My Oman Air Cabin Crew Application

Here I will be sharing with you my experience applying as a Cabin Crew with Oman Air. As I am writing this, I am already a Cabin Crew with Saudi Arabian Airlines, I made a post as well regarding my experience applying there so if you want to read that too just check my other post.

Just like the other girls, I too dreamed to wear a fancy uniform and get paid to travel the world, that's why back in 2013 while I was waiting for the result of the nursing board exam I searched for job openings for a flight attendant. Luckily that time Oman Air will have their Open Day here in the Philippines. I went to Manila to apply to their designated recruitment agency and luckily I passed the screening process up to the last phase. But all those efforts were gone to waste which I will tell you why at the end of this post.

Here is the process of my application at that time, I hope this will help you on your application.

The Screening Process

One of the staff at the recruitment agency did the screening process. Yes, the screening process is conducted by the agency because It's up to them if they will include you on their list for employers' interview.

The questions I got were:

Tell me about yourself, What do you do now? Are you currently employed?, Why do you want to be a cabin crew?, Why did you take up nursing? Also, Since I have my braces at that time she asked me if I'm willing to remove them.

The Employers Interview

Weeks later I went back to manila to handover my passport and then they told me that the employers interview will be on October 3-4 which is just 1 week after the screening process.
That time I'm really enthusiastic to be a flight attendant so I read a lot of blogs about cabin crew application specifically the airline where im going to apply. (Just like what you are doing today, maybe. *wink)


OCT 3 - DAY 1

7am
We're like 500+ in there waiting. I'm very nervous that I can't walk on my heels. Lol! 

The staff divided us into two groups. All the girls with the last name starting with M-Z will be waiting in another room.

10 am
I had my turn for a One on One Interview. The interviewer asked me 2 questions.

First is, You can start telling about yourself and the other one is Why Oman air?.

Before I start to answer, the Omani interviewer called her colleague and said
"We have a problem. This pretty lady has braces." Luckily her colleague told her that It's okay so as long as I'm willing to remove them during my training if ever I passed the interview.
So I said yes and actually, I am ready for that because I have my certificate coming from my dentist that my braces were ready to be removed anytime (In case they will ask for it).

After my interview, they asked me to wait outside and someone will update me.

9pm

The staff told me to take my dinner first and go back after an hour to check my number on the board. If you passed the first phase your number will be written there. I did not take my lunch and dinner yet I have no appetite to eat that time. All I was thinking is the result of the interview. Imagine there's a lot of applicants so I'm really anxious at that time if I will pass.

10pm
I received a call from the staff and I've been asked to go back to take my written exam which means I passed, Yay!. So I took my written exam and they let us all go home, take rest and wait for their text if we passed the exam so we can go back the next day. Imagine it's almost 11 pm and you will be asked to go back the next day early in the morning if you passed. I'm from Pampanga so I reached home around 1 am and I can't sleep because I'm thinking about the result (Please don't do this. Just relax and take your beauty rest).

It's 2 am when I received their message that I passed the written exam and that I need to go back tomorrow at 8 am.

OCT 4 - DAY 2
 
I went to the hotel around 8 am. They divided us into a group and I think its 2 pm when our group was called for our turn (We are 5 in a group). This phase is called group dynamics. We were given a scenario and we need to decide in front of them on what to do in the scenario given. It's Like a debate.

When we are already done discussing, the panel asked us to show our biggest smile like how we are going to welcome the passengers. They also asked us how we are going to sit facing left and right.

After the group dynamics, they let us go home and wait for their message regarding the result.


OCT 7

Monday came in, It's 7 in the morning when I received a message from the agency informing me that I passed.

Maybe you are wondering what happened next. Well sadly, I and the other few applicants haven't received any update from the agency while some had received the offer letter already. We just patiently waited since we can't do anything about it. A few months after, we saw a post that Oman Air will be having their OD again so that time together with the other pending applicants, we asked for an update regarding our application. We've been told that the airline will not provide us an offer letter anymore because they had changed their age requirement. Imagine going through all those processes just to be treated unprofessionally. 

Anyway, since we can't do anything about it we just moved on. As for me, I applied to another airline which is SAUDIA where I am currently employed. *wink
